Adam´s special object

For his 17th birthday Adam got his first own car from his parents. His car is green because green is his favorite color. He uses it every day for going to school, to sports or to take his girlfriend. His car offers a lot of pissibilities for him and could take him everywhere he wants. So it is easy for him to meet his girlfriend Amy whenever he wants.

Being a G4...

Being a G4 is like being the enemy of your younger friends.

Characterization of Amy

Amy is a seventeen-year-old girl. Her birth name is Emiko Sumoto. Her parents emigrated from Japan to the USA so she is a japanese girl. She grows up in a middle class neighbourhood. Her parents are very strict in case of her education and with their japanese traditions. Amy´s boyfriend is Adam, an american boy from rich neighbourhoods. She goes to highschool with him. Amy has got a brother whos name is Hideo, who is older than her and who is going to be father of the baby from his wife Sue. Amy and her parents do not have much contact to Hideo because he married an american girl without his fathers agreement. Amy´s life is sometimes very hard because of her strict father. All in all she is a little bit unhappy about her family background because she does not want to be threated like a 12-year-old girl.

Film Review: "The War between the Classes"

The film "The war between the Classes is made up off the book with the same name which is written by Gloria D. Miklowitz. The film was produced in 80´s. I expected from this film that the main topics and the most important conflicts of the book are involved.

The first scene of this film shows a class which watches a movie about racism and violence. This scene gives an advice of the topic of the film. A teacher plays the color game with his class. Colored armbands show the social status of the person who wears it. The protagonists are Amy and Adam. They are two teenager who love each other. Amy´s father is in addition to Adam one of the most important persons for her. Because of their different colors Amy and Adam are not allowed to meet each other which makes some conflicts between them. Someday they meet each other confidential and as a result of this Amy gets the same color as Adam has - the lowest one. Many of the pupils who have to play this color game notice that it is very bad for their friendships and for their relationships. They start a demonstration against this game, their teacher who is called Mr. Otero an the G4´s. The G4´s are older students who have to check Amy, Adam and the other pupils to keep the rules of the game.

I like the characters of Adam, Amy and Amy´s father because they are very sympathetic and friendly. I do not like the G4´s because they are strict, boastful and unfriendly.

If this flim wants to present the topic of the book "The War between the Classes" it does it in a very bad way. The characters have not got the same attributes as they have got in the book and the scenes of this film are very boring.

All in all I do not like this film.

First scene

(Amy comes home after the dance. Her parents sit in the kitchen and still wait for her because she is too late. Amy wears a long skirt with flowers and a red t-shirt. She has got a yellow flower in her long hair an wears long earrings. When she went in she notices the stressed atmosphere.)

Amy: Hello mum, hello dad.

Father: Amy! You are too late! You must not come home at two  o´clock! You should be back home at one o´clock.

Amy: Dad, i am so sorry! But it was so funny to meet all my friends at the dance! Any Adam stayed all the time by my side. Do not worry about me only because i am one hour too late.

Father: Emiko! This American boy? He is not good for you! (Father stands up) It´s enough that you say "sorry" when a "sorry" is not enough! Go to bed now.

Amy: But Adam is my boyfriend and I love him. You have to accept him!

Mother: Your father is all right. I´m sorry. Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow.

Amy: Well, but..

Mother: Sleep well, Amy!

Amy: Good night.

(Amy goes to bed with tears in her eyes.)

Chapter 6

This chapter presents in a clear way the different opinions of Amy and Adam´s sister bettina. Amy really wants to learn with Bettina for her next Maths test but bettina only talks about a boy from school. After studying Amy meets Adam outside and they talk about the color game. This dialogue shows that Adam learned from his experiences in a lower class. They talk about the thoughts of Adam´s mother in relation to Amy and Eileen, the girl who Mrs. Tarcher would like to see at Adam´s side instead of Amy. So they talk about it very emotionally because they are both a little bit sad about it. But I think Adam is as self-confident as he needs to be in order to ignore his mother´s opinion. Maybe the relationship will be closer because Amy can see how much Adam loves her although she is not rich.

Comment on how Amy and Carol react to Brian in the mall

It is a difficult situation for all of them. I think first Amy wants to provocate Brian a little bit with her missing armband because he is a G4. Carol directly shows Brian that she has got her armband and her journal with her. She is hopeful that Brian checks Amy´s journal, too. I think Carol is a little bit ashamed that Amy heard what she thinks about her boyfriend and her. So Carol reacts a little bit agressive and Amy is a little bit shocked of the situation.
